Advisory Board determines the result of the vote on the 2021 citizens' budget
At its meeting on 16.11.2021, the Advisory Board for Citizen Participation was presented with the evaluation of the vote by the administration. The accuracy of the result was confirmed on the basis of the new regulations on the citizens' budget. Last year, a discussion arose as the remaining budget was no longer sufficient for a selected proposal. Instead, a lower-ranking proposal was financed, the amount of which still fitted into the remaining budget. As a result, the rules of the citizens' budget were adjusted.
16 projects can be implemented over the next two years
The administration, together with the advisory board for citizen participation, has determined this year's result. As a first step, the 13 most successful proposals can now look forward to a total of €98,000 and implementation over the next two years.
It starts with the weight training facility on the Westsportplatz with 1,736 votes and ends with the proposal for garbage cans along the district heating line to the Sparkasse with 271 votes. The remaining €2,000 was not sufficient for the next project in 14th place.
Based on the rules and regulations, the administration and the Citizens' Participation Advisory Board have now checked place by place whether or not the proposal fits into the remaining budget in full or with 10% less. This means that three further proposals can also be implemented: Fruit trees and shrubs for the community garden in Jena-Ost, a new bench for the church garden in Winzerla and the rededication of a swing to a toddler swing in Jena-Nord.
Nevertheless, the total sum did not quite add up and there is a remaining amount of €300, which will be transferred to the citizens' budget in the coming year. The evaluation took a little longer this year, but we now have a reliable result.
I would like to thank the Advisory Board for Citizen Participation as well as the more than 2,000 residents of Jena who took part in the vote. And of course I congratulate all those whose proposals can now be implemented. A small consolation for the other proposals: They are welcome to submit them again next year.
says Christian Gerlitz, Mayor and Head of Department for Urban Development and the Environment.
Participation in the vote has almost doubled compared to last year. As in a political election, there were also invalid votes, 109 in total, so that ultimately 1,946 valid votes were recorded.
