More grip in the climbing hall of the Alpine Club

Submitter

Mr Meinhardt, DAV Sektion Jena e. V.

Brief description of the proposal

The DAV (Deutscher Alpenverein) Sektion Jena e. V. is with 1.421 members one of the biggest clubs in the Saalestadt. Due to its passion for mountain sports, the section operates a climbing hall for all interested and ambitious people with many voluntary helpers. Almost every day the hall is used by different climbing groups (children, youth, adult & family groups) for education and training purposes.

In addition to regular investments in the safety-related equipment of the hall (ropes, expresses, webbing slings/material, etc.), we have not been able to purchase new climbing holds for several years. Many holds and volumes have now exceeded their service life, i.e. no longer offer any grip and show clear signs of wear.

In order to support the voluntary trainers, group leaders and helpers as well as to enable the climbers to have more fun in the hall again, we would like to replace these old holds and expand the stock. Since already for single large volumes or grips usually a three-digit amount is due, we would wish in the sum approx. 5000€, in order to replace the old material and to acquire also grips in a new color (neon orange). With the new colors and shapes we can screw even more routes in the hall and offer all climbers a greater variety.

Costs
